Hometown: Ypsilanti
Career: Flight Attendant and Township Board Trustee
I am the wife of Donald and Mother of two sons, Jordan and Donnie. I hold a full time position in the airline industry as well as serving as a part-time elected town official. My true passion however lies in helping others, primarily those affected by rare disease. My son Donnie’s diagnosis of Rubenstein-Taybi Syndrome spurred me and my family to action on his behalf. Working with and through the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) allows me to embrace the additional role as advocate for those families affected by rare disease.
On stage at the Mrs. Michigan America Pageant I described my passion and NORD. Shortly after I was crowned, a couple, the parents of an "unclassified" child (without diagnosis of disease), and one of millions, waited patiently for the opportunity to speak with me. I was able to give them the resources they needed to help their child. They now know that there is hope and that they are not alone.
Even though there is success in reaching a destination, for me the real joy is in discovering how many you can lift up on the journey.
I am both proud and honored to represent the married women of the great State of Michigan . |
