My husband and I are humbled to have had the opportunity to be blessed by so many different,
interesting and amazing people through our work with The Salvation Army, The Developmental
Disabilities Board and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
We devote our time to these noble and enduring organizations because we believe that every
human being has been created for a specific and unique purpose. Each one has unique qualities
and characteristics perfectly suited for the Master’s plan. Their size, their shape, their funny
little quirks and amazing natural talents were designed by their Creator to help them touch
the lives of those they will one day encounter. It is so easy in today’s culture to give in to the
temptation to doubt our own self-worth. It’s even easier to succumb to the desire to be someone
else. We must all realize, however, that no one else can fulfill the role that has been especially
created for us. After all, in the eyes of the Creator, we each have priceless value.
As Mrs. America, I would use the Mrs. America crown to help encourage our young women
in particular, as they face the challenges that constantly tear away at their self-esteem. Now
more than ever before, we need powerful voices speaking truth into the lives of our children,
reminding them of their priceless value. As a representative of the women who give so much to
those who need them, I would hope to encourage those whose paths I am honored to cross with
my personal life motto, “Never Settle for Less Than Your Best.”
I am Melanie Miller, Mrs. Ohio and I hope to be your next Mrs. America.
