If you can imagine it…You can dream it. Dream it… YOU can become it! (Anonymous)

…a little girl stands in front of her family's TV set, all decked out in her mother’s finest dress and heels…complete with lipstick drawn across her face like a roadmap, a curtain draped around her for a train and a wrinkled foil crown sitting on top of her head… That little girl was me. I remember watching that Mrs. America pageant years ago wondering how Major Healey (from “I Dream of Jeannie”) had the time to be away from NASA and be the Master of Ceremonies, and wondering where Jeannie and Major Nelson were. But mostly, I thought to myself of how neat it would be to be all grown up, happily married and walking across the stage as Major Healey (Bill Daily) announced my name. That dream…that wonderful dream…

But life, as we all know, has a way of bringing us back to reality. I grew up with a heart defect which finally threatened my life well before I had reached age 30. God gave me a 2nd chance to live. Today I am a heart survivor and advocate for heart health, happily married, a mother and a grandmother of 2. Best still, I have lived many of my dreams…and even started a new career as a Flight Attendant just after 9/11/01. Today, still living my dreams, I work as a radio DJ, hosting my own hour called “Angels in the Afternoon” and a Visual Display Artist for a major merchandiser. Best of all, I finally get to live the dream of appearing on that stage with 50 of the most beautiful and independent woman in the nation. However, I’ll miss Major Healey not being there, but hey… that's one dream that will have to pass in not coming true.….
