I love Bazooka bubble gum, but I love it for so much more then the memories of blowing the biggest bubble contests with my baby sister, or trying to discover exactly how many pieces I could chew at one time, it’s 32 for the recordJ When I was little, my grandfather would take me on a daily walk to get my cherished piece of Bazooka and on one of those memorable walks, the Bazooka Joe comic read ‘Today is tomorrows yesterday, make each day count”. That was the only comic I ever kept, and maybe it was because even at a young age I knew that those words would describe my outlook on life forever more.

That quote and it’s meaning has presented itself many times in my life. It first presented itself when my father passed away from cancer when he was 42. It would present itself again when I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer and underwent intense Chemotherapy and radiation, causing me to lose all my hair. It beautifully presented itself on my wedding day to my amazing husband. It again presented itself in an awesome way when a doctor told me I would never be able to conceive children, and I now have a 4 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. It finally presented itself in a full circle way on the day that my 4 year old daughter asked me for her first piece of bubble gum, and guess what kind it was. My life is lived with Passion for life and for people and I although I may not chew as much Bazooka as I once did, that comic on that one day is how I have lived my life and the legacy I will leave when I am gone.
